Five Things Friday

Friday, 27 April 2018

So my blog has already become a little neglected. I kept thinking I hadn’t got anything to post as there’s only so many times I can talk about Neeve and going for coffee (well tea in my case). Often when you’re on maternity leave your days can become pretty same-y.

Then I remembered the whole point of this blog was to enjoy the simple pleasures and see the adventures hidden away in the small things in life. So I’ve decided to do a ‘Five Things Friday’, about five things that I’ve enjoyed or have made me happy within the last week. Just in time for the weekend and it may hopefully inspire you (and me) to look for the happy in the simple over the coming week.  It’s easy to think without a full action packed weekend that you haven’t got much to look forward to but it doesn’t necessarily have to be the case.

This week has been particularly tough as Neeve hasn’t slept well and has generally been a bit mardier than normal so it’s made me have to think even more.

So this week things that have made me happy are:-

1. Going for our viewing sessions for some professional photos of Neeve
2. Winning £450 at bingo and enjoying a Chinese with friends
3. Meeting up with an old work friend for a coffee
4. Going for a meal for Scott’s birthday and watching Neeve devour prawn crackers (one for each hand)
5. Pay day! (Hey I said it had been a tough week!) I got a bonus this month too so I got slightly more than my usual rubbishy maternity pay!

So that’s my Five Things Friday. What small thing has made you happy this week?

Book Review: The Tuscan Child

When you get pregnant (and especially during those last few weeks of waiting for baby to arrive) everyone tells you to ‘enjoy it while you can’. What you end up doing is ignoring everyone’s advice, wiling your baby to arrive early, and then immediately understanding exactly what they were getting at.

I used to read so much and just figured I’d read when baby naps as they sleep loads right? (spoiler alert - this is not how it works). Now she’s in more of a routine and sleeping longer at night it’s easier to find time to read the odd book.

So exactly as predicted my blogging is as sporadic as ever! I actually started this post ages ago, but Neeve never seems to sleep long enough for me to get the photos properly edited and uploaded and the post actually written. (It is pretty lengthy!)

We've been in our house just over two years now and I've enjoyed decorating our first home. We always rented before and although we've had freedom to decorate in most of them, when renting there's only so far to go as I was always concerned about putting too much money in to someone else's property.
